CIVI exists to investigate the origins and development of complex human civilizations through evidence, wherever that evidence leads. We bring together archaeology, history, geology, genetics, anthropology, linguistics, oral traditions and other ways of understanding the human past — connecting evidence across disciplines, cultures and time to build a richer, more open and continually evolving account of the human story.
